Thunder Bay installs new pedestrian crosswalks

The city of Thunder Bay has activated four new signalized pedestrian crossings.

One is located at Arthur Street and Leland Avenue, one is at 853 Red River Road by the Red River Towers, and two are along Golf Links Road: the first is at 1260 Golf Links Rd. by Thunder Bay Paediatrics, and the second is at 1077 Golf Links Rd. by Lakehead Physiotherapy.

The city describes the new crossings as a way to reduce pedestrian crashes, prevent accidents, and manage traffic flow.

Thunder Bay: City police investigating vehicle collision involving pedestrian

Thunder Bay’s Police Service is investigating a vehicle collision that left a pedestrian with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were sent to the May Street and Dease Street area around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday after receiving reports about the collision.

On scene, a pedestrian was located and transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

The driver involved in the collision has been charged with careless driving.

An investigation into the matter remains ongoing.
