Riverside Health Care to continue fundraising
Riverside Health Care is thanking the community for its support of the campaign for a new MRI unit at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances and digital radiography equipment for La Verendrye and Rainy River Health Centre.
The $1.67 million goal was reached earlier this month.
Director of Fundraising Holly Kaemingh says the support for the campaign was simply amazing.
“We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of our community,” says Kaemingh.
“Every donor, every person who bought a raffle ticket, everyone who came to an event- it would not be possible without everybody.”
Kaemingh says every dollar pledged has been collected and is ready to be used for the new medical equipment.
She adds that because the community fundraising goal was reached, a commitment from the FDC Foundation kicks in.
The private family foundation pledged $1 million, with $800,000 made available last fall, with an additional $200,000 released if matched by this summer.
While the campaign has wrapped up, fundraising by Riverside will continue.
Kaemingh says any additional dollars will go to other needs.
“Every year our team goes over the most important equipment needs, what’s required at different sites,” says Kaemingh.
“Then we have a list of things that are needed across the sites, and we fundraise for them.”
As a result, Riverside’s monthly 50/50 cash draws will remain in place.
