RCMP seek suspect after man shot with BB gun in Mount Uniacke road rage incident

A 40-year-old man was shot with a BB gun following a road rage incident at a gas station in Mount Uniacke.

RCMP are seeking the public’s help to identify the person responsible after responding to a report of an assault with a weapon.

Investigators say the man was travelling westbound on Highway 101 when a grey Honda Civic passed on the right and changed lanes closely in front of his vehicle. After the man flashed his high beams, a rear-seat passenger in the Civic flashed a floodlight back at him. Both vehicles later exited the highway.

According to RCMP, the man pulled into a gas station while the Honda continued toward Sackville before turning around and stopping beside his vehicle. When the man got out to speak with the driver, a rear-seat passenger allegedly shot him with a BB gun before the Honda fled northbound.

Police are working to identify the occupants of the grey, four-door Honda Civic, believed to be a 2010-2016 model. The shooter is described only as a man. RCMP say there may have been additional occupants in the vehicle, but no further descriptions are available.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“A moment of frustration on the road should never escalate into violence,” says Cpl. Mandy Edwards, Nova Scotia RCMP Public Information Officer. “Acts of this nature put public safety at risk and have the potential to cause serious harm.”

Anyone with information about the incident, or dashcam footage from Highway 101 westbound between 9:20 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., or Highway 1 eastbound between 9:40 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 2, is asked to contact East Hants District RCMP at 902-883-7077.
