Tri County Tridents to host rugby fun rally

The Tri County Tridents are bringing together people from all walks of life to share their passion for rugby.

The event is open to veterans and newcomers alike, and is meant to introduce the sport in a fun and safe way.

They’ll be hosting all sorts of activities, like flag-rugby scrimmages, try relay, rugby ring toss, games and a barbeque.

Tridents coach Caitlin Connell said the Nova Scotia rugby community is very welcoming, and even though games can be rough on the pitch everyone is friendly after the final whistle blows.

“For this event we really want to get the word out there about what we’re doing, how you can get involved and how fun it is,” said Connell. “There’s a saying we have that every body is a rugby body, there is a position for every type of body on the field.”

Connell went on to say that some rugby players are strong, stout and burly, but others are small, quick and fast.

The event will be hosted on Saturday, August 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Meadow Fields school at 106 Prospect Street in Yarmouth.
