Atikokan lift station to undergo exterior improvements

The town has hired a contractor to put a new roof on a sewage lift station in Atikokan.

The town will pay Tramin Industrial more than $82,000 for the work that also includes exterior work to the building.

That is under what the town had budgeted.

Tenders were sought for the project during the summer, but no bids were received, prompting the town to seek out a contractor.

Tramin was the only company expressing interest.

The Hawthorne lift station handles sewage flows from the east end of town and is its fifth-largest.

Several automation and monitoring upgrades were done in 2021.

It was during that work that improvements to the exterior of the building were identified.
