22-year old charged after vehicle clocked going 217 km/h: police
Thunder Bay OPP have charged a 22-year-old Thunder Bay driver after a vehicle was allegedly caught travelling 217 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
Police say officers from the Shabaqua Detachment conducted a traffic stop after receiving reports of a dangerous driver.
The driver was charged with stunt driving and received a 30-day licence suspension. The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.
OPP are reminding motorists that speeding remains a leading factor in serious collisions and are urging drivers to slow down, stay alert and prioritize safety while on the road.
“Just because your car can go that fast, doesn’t mean you should test it out on the highway,” police said in a social media post. “No destination is worth the risk.”
