Drivers should expect some lengthy delays on the Harbour Bridge on Monday night.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says two full closures of the bridge are planned.
Between 6 and 10 p.m., all lanes will be closed twice for about 20 minutes each.
DTI said the shutdowns are necessary for jacking operations.
Motorists are being encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate routes where possible.
The City of Saint John has advised the public of some planned movements of oversized and overweight loads from the port’s lower west terminal to the Irving pulp and paper mill.
According to a release from the city, approximately 101 loads are expected to move from June 1 to 19.
Most will be moved using Highway 1, but about 30 will be moved along a route through the lower west side.
The release states the city doesn’t regulate or approve this kind of transport, but rather with the appropriate provincial and operational authorities, including approval from the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.
As far as the lower west side movements, the city released the following information:
As for the parking restrictions, the public has been asked not to park on the south side of Ludlow Street from Prince Street to King Street West, or on the east side of King Street West from Ludlow Street to 246 King Street West during the scheduled movement times.
The city said vehicles parked in those areas while loads are being moved could interfere with the movements and may be towed.
Director of external relations Lisa Kennedy said the city’s focus is on public safety, minimizing disruption for residents and road users and ensuring affected residents and businesses get as much advance notice as possible.
“We recognize the concerns residents in the lower west side have raised about truck traffic and industrial impacts,” Kennedy said in a statement. “We are working to ensure these movements are communicated clearly and managed as safely as possible.”
Drivers, get ready for traffic delays as the Bay Street Project moves to daytime work this week.
The Town of Antigonish says there will be controlled stop and go traffic from Wednesday, May 20 to Friday, May 22 between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
They ask that you be mindful of work crews and equipment when traveling through the area.
Last fall, roadwork on Bay Street caused havoc with major delays and frustration.
Mayor Sean Cameron said the work started last year to replace water and sewer infrastructure to support the growth in the area.
The Town apologies in advance for any inconveniences and appreciates your patience as work is finished on this project.
You can find updates on their Facebook and website as the work progresses.
