Wildcats star signs NHL deal

One of Moncton’s best forwards has taken an important step toward the big leagues.

Caleb Desnoyers signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Utah Mammoth Monday.

The contract kicks in next season and is worth $3.23 million.

Desnoyers was drafted by Utah fourth overall in 2025.

In a statement, Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong said the team was “thrilled” to sign Desnoyers.

“Caleb is an incredibly skilled player who has seen much success throughout his junior career with Moncton,” Armstrong said. “He has an extremely bright future ahead and we look forward to watching him play for the Mammoth for years to come.”

The 18-year-old forward put up 22 goals and 78 points in just 45 games this season with the Wildcats.

He was second in the QMJHL in points per game (1.73), tied for fourth in assists (56), and fifth in power play assists (26).

He was named the league’s player of the week on Dec. 8 and was part of the QMJHL’s Team of the Week four times.

Desnoyers was named the playoff MVP last season, putting up nine goals and 21 assists as the Wildcats won the Gilles-Courteau Trophy as league champions.

He had a goal and an assist at the Memorial Cup.

Most recently, he was part of Team Canada at the 2026 World Junior Championships.
