No timeline on when Hwy 111 pedestrian bridge will reopen
The pedestrian bridge over a section of Highway 111 in Dartmouth has been closed for one month and there is no timeline on when it reopen.
The walkway shut down after a collision on the weekend of August 22, damaging the steel structure to the stairway.
It’s been out of commission ever since and according to Councillor Tony Mancini, several community members have asked about when it will reopen.
Comments on Mancini’s Facebook show residents who say the bridge was well used.
In an email to Acadia News, Public Works says the department has hired a consulting engineer to assess the structure to determine options and procedures.
“The structure will remain closed until that work takes place,” says Public Works.
