Alberta/Yukon providing personnel/equipment to wildland fire fight in northwestern Ontario

Some much-needed relief for weary Ministry of Natural Resources wildland firefighters in northwestern Ontario.

Alberta is sending firefighters, waterbombers, and other equipment to help with the fire fight.

The Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre reports that Alberta is sending 80 firefighters and 6 support personnel.

Six smaller amphibious aircraft, often referred to as the Fire Boss and capable of skimming lakes and rivers to take on water will also be on loan.

An additional support aircraft and 100 pumps are also being sent to northwestern Ontario.

Ontario has also received support from Yukon

Yukon Protective Services indicates that it has deployed two forest fire ignition specialists to northern Ontario.

There is no immediate word as to where the out-of-province firefighters will be deployed upon their arrival to the region.
