Thunder Gold attracts former Canadian Olympian track star
A former Canadian gold-medal-winning Olympian is involved in the chase for gold of a different kind.
Donovan Bailey is joining Thunder Gold’s Board of Directors.
Bailey is a highly decorated track athlete, winning two gold medals at the 1996 Atlanta Games, while setting a world record in the 100-metre dash.
Thunder Gold is exploring for gold in an area near Sistonen’s Corners to the west of Thunder Bay.
President and Chief Executive Officer Wes Hanson is excited to have Bailey on board.
“He has a solid business mind and maintains the same discipline and focus that he drew on to succeed in his sport,” states Hanson in a release.
“His enthusiasm to support Thunder Gold is very encouraging. We look forward to working with Donovan as we evolve Thunder Gold’s Tower Mountain toward a Tier 1 gold property.”
Bailey says his interest in the company began when he was introduced to it by the Chief Financial Officer, whom he has known for several years.
“Not only was it an easy story to follow, but the upside potential is extremely attractive,” states Bailey.
“I know that I can help to raise the profile of the Company and likely get meaningful eyes on it. This could be one of Canada’s biggest discoveries, and I want to be part of building this exciting Ontario gold story.”
A recent technical report estimates the area may contain over 3 million ounces of gold.
The company has further plans to conduct further drilling to better the available resources.
