Kilogram of cocaine means prison sentence for Saint John man
A 30-year-old man received a prison sentence following a drug trafficking investigation in Saint John.
The Saint John Police Integrated Enforcement Unit arrested the man on the afternoon of April 15.
After a search of his car and a home on Old Black River Road, police seized about 1.1 kilograms of cocaine and nearly $7,200 in cash.
Police estimated the street value of the drugs to be $112,000.
The man was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime.
He appeared in provincial court on April 16 and pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was sentenced to 42 months in prison.
The Integrated Enforcement Unit consists of police officers from the Saint John Police, Kennebecasis Regional Police Force, the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and the RCMP.
