Gas bar/car wash proposed for 9th Street North
More development is expected on 9th Street North.
A gas bar, convenience store and car wash are proposed for the property of the old Luby’s on 9th Street North store and now belongs to Woods and Goods.
Laura Wheatley a lawyer for the proponant says the development fits in with what is already in place.
“From a planning perspective, the proposal represents a modest and logical expansion of an existing commercial use,” Wheatley told a planning meeting this week.
“The site has a long history of commercial activity, and the proposed additions are uses that are commonly co-located within convenience retail stores.”
Wheatley suggests this is a positive development for the neighborhood.
“It enhances the existing commercial property. It utilizes the existing infrastructure, and it provides services that are currently limited to this area in the city.”
Currently, there are three separate lots on that site, so city council would have to approve a by-law to make it into a single parcel of property.
