MPP Rickford with health care funding for Fort Frances
More residents in Fort Frances are set to gain access to primary care thanks to new provincial funding.
Kenora Rainy River MPP Greg Rickford was in Fort Frances Thursday to make the cheque presentation on behalf of the Deputy Premier and Minister of Health as part of Ontario’s Primary Care Action Plan.
The $878,300 investment will support the Fort Frances Family Health Team, helping attach up to 2,389 patients through expanded interprofessional services.
Executive Director of the Fort Frances Family Health Team Tara Tolley notes the team is thrilled to receive this expansion funding through Ontario Health. She added they are grateful to the Honourable Greg Rickford for joining us in announcing this important investment and for their support in highlighting the needs of our community.
The province has committed $3.4 billion to the plan between 2025 and 2029, with the goal of connecting every Ontarian to primary care.
The MPP for Kenora Rainy River also announced funding for three other projects.
- $32,083 in funding for Gizhewaadiziwin Health Access Centre through the Primary Care Asthma Program Funding, provided through the Ministry of Health
- $99,062 in funding for the Town of Fort Frances for the Detailed Design for Reconstruction of Scott Street from Armit Avenue to Victoria Avenue through the Connecting Links Program, provided through the Ministry of Transportation
- $188,313.95 in funding for the Town of Fort Frances for the reconstruction of Scott Street through the NORDS funding program provided through the Ministry of Northern Economic Development and Growth
