Kenora Pickleball Club Hosts Spring Tournament
This past weekend, the Kenora Pickleball Club hosted its annual spring tournament, welcoming 210 participants from Kenora, Winnipeg and across Manitoba, Dryden and Thunder Bay, and as far away as Alberta. Players competed over three days at Garrow Park, with additional matches held at Keewatin Arena and St. John Paul II School gymnasium due to inclement weather.
Tournament Director and Club President Derek Holbrow oversaw a full schedule of events, including men’s doubles on Friday, mixed doubles on Saturday, and women’s doubles on Sunday. The tournament showcased a high level of competition and sportsmanship across all divisions.
The event’s success was made possible by the many dedicated volunteers who contributed their time and energy. From setup and takedown to scorekeeping, running errands, and managing last-minute details, their efforts were invaluable and deeply appreciated by the club. Aaron Eisner and his Recreational Facilities staff jumped in the bad weather forced a quick venue change to the Keewatin Arena.
The club also noted the absence of its beloved resident doorman, Blake Stockholm, who was greatly missed this year.
