Lake of the Woods Hospital coping with impacts of a flood
Lake of the Woods District Hospital is dealing with the impacts of a flood.
The flood took place early Wednesday morning and affected several departments.
President and CEO of the Hospital Cheryl O’Flaherty says one area has particularly been affected.
“Surgical services has been significantly impacted,” states O’Flaherty.
“All scheduled surgeries have been cancelled for the remainder of this week. Affected patients are being contacted directly by hospital staff with further information.”
O’Flaherty credits the quick work by staff, which helped minimize damage.
“Patients remain safe and continue to receive excellent care. Their (hospital team) quick actions helped contain the situation, minimize damage, and support patient safety while we plan next steps for recovery. It’s important for the public to understand that the Emergency Department remains open.”
