N.S premier not opposed to permanent daylight-saving time
The premier of Nova Scotia said he is not opposed to permanent daylight-saving time.
Tim Houston made the remarks to reporters, Thursday, after a cabinet meeting in Halifax.
He said in order for the twice-annual clock change to be ditched, he would need other Atlantic provinces to be on board.
“I’m interested in it but it’s not something that Nova Scotia would do on its own,” said Houston. “This is always something we said we’d have to do with the region.”
Houston added, it could be a discussion at the Council of Atlantic Premiers or at the Council of the Federation in the summer.
“I see the pros and cons of it,” said Houston.
To be on permanent daylight time means it would be darker longer in the mornings during winter months and lighter for longer at the end of day.
British Columbia and most recently Alberta have decided to make the switch.
