Court date adjourned for U.S. consulate bomb case in Halifax
The court case for the man facing charges after a bomb threat against the U.S. consulate in Halifax has been adjourned.
The province’s public prosecution service says Ali Assakereh appeared in court Thursday for an election or plea but that has been pushed to next month at the request of the defence.
It was August 9 when police learned of the threat.
The next day, officers allegedly found a vehicle with propane tanks and flammable gas parked in Purdy’s Wharf. In response, police shut down several streets in the downtown core and forced people to evacuate.
The 54-year-old is facing public mischief, uttering threats and a threat against an internationally protected person, which is a terrorism offence.
Assakereh is scheduled for court November 2.
