The woman who is facing charges in the case of a missing dead newborn in Halifax has been released on bail.
Offences for Ramandeep Kaur, 27, include concealing the body of a child and indignity to human remains.
The province’s prosecution service says Kaur was released on $6,000 with conditions including living with surety at a specific address in Halifax, staying in Nova Scotia, attending court when directed and reporting to police every Friday.
Her 23-year-old husband, Sukhpreet Singh, remains in custody.
It was May 22 when a woman arrived in hospital in critical condition and appeared to have just given birth, but the baby was missing.
Police say they believe the 23-year-old mother experienced a medical emergency and her condition was not the result of violence.
It prompted a massive, two-day search, until the infant’s body was found just outside Halifax in the woods.
Kaur and Singh are due back in court in October.
