RCMP arrest Yarmouth woman after foot chase
A routine police patrol turned into a foot chase and multiple drug charges for a 29-year-old Yarmouth woman.
Yarmouth Town RCMP say they observed a car speeding on Main Street that then turned abruptly onto several side streets and drove through multiple stop signs in what police call an attempt to evade the police vehicle.
Once the officer stopped the vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Forest Street, the driver stopped the car and attempted to flee on foot. She was arrested safely.
Police say that during a search incidental to the arrest, officers found multiple bags of packaged cocaine.
The driver was released on conditions pending a first court appearance, which is scheduled for Dec. 21 at Yarmouth Provincial Court.
