Operation Safe Drive Week underway in Ontario

Commercial motor vehicles are the target of the latest highway traffic enforcement campaign taking place across the province.

Reckless and dangerous driver behaviour is the focus of attention during Operation Safe Drive Week.

Ontario Provincial Police are teaming with others to promote road safety through education, awareness and targeted enforcement.

The multi-national campaign is led by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA).

From July 12-18, OPP are watching for motorists who perform improper lane changes, follow too closely, speed, drive while impaired and other reckless and dangerous driver behaviours.

OPP says there were 8,826 collisions involving commercial motor vehicles in 2025.

Seventy-seven of them were fatal, claiming 95 lives.
