Out of control wildfire burning in Queens County
An out of control wildfire is burning in the community of East Port L’Hebert, Queens County, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
In an email to Acadia News at 6 p.m., Wednesday, DNR says it is estimated to be about three hectares in size.
“The province’s four new 802 fixed wing air tankers, bird dog and a DNR helicopter are on site along with DNR firefighters and three volunteer fire departments,” says DNR.
In a statement on social media just before 5 p.m., Wednesday, the Region of Queens asks residents to stay out of the area to allow fire fighters to do their work.
The municipality says if there is a change, they will post an update.
That area of the province is on the heels of the first heat warning of the season.
