Youth and Family Wellness Center continues to expand
The Youth and Family Wellness Camp (Makate Waagamichiwanang Gakinaa’amaatiwin) on the Strecker Road continues to expand.
The newest facility is the Arts and Welcome Center (Ojijaak Gabê-win).
It’s designed as an accessible space that allows individuals, families, schools, and communities to gather.
The space offers an arts studio, visitor welcome area, accessible washrooms, and a central check-in hub for camp programs and events.
Executive Director Stephanie Bryant says the Welcome Center will strengthen the ability to host cultural gatherings, workshops, school visits, community events, and arts-based programming.
““This space represents another important step in the continued growth of the Youth and Family Wellness Camp as a year-round destination for healing, wellness, culture, recreation, and learning,” say Bryant.
“We are excited to welcome community members, partners, schools, and visitors into a space designed to foster belonging, creativity, and meaningful connection.”
Funding for the new center comes from the Northern Ontario Heritage Funding Corporation, the Barry and Laurie Green Charitable Trust and the Ma’mo’weh Wii’soo’ka’tiwin Foundation.
