RCMP issues 293 tickets in traffic enforcement initiative
A recent RCMP traffic blitz in Southeastern New Brunswick ended with 293 traffic violations under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act.
Members of the New Brunswick RCMP’s Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU), the Codiac Regional RCMP and New Brunswick’s Department of Justice and Public Safety stopped vehicles in Greater Moncton between October 29 and October 31.
Sixty-nine violations were speeding infractions. One driver was arrested for being impaired, and 50 vehicles were towed.
Inspections were performed on 63 vehicles, and 18 were deemed unsafe. Several warnings were also issued during the operation.
“A well-maintained vehicle is a safe vehicle, and safety should always be a top priority for every motorist,” said Corporal Stéphane Dugas with the Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit.
“By having a valid safety inspection, you’re not only protecting yourself but also safeguarding passengers, pedestrians, and fellow drivers. Take the time to validate, because a few minutes of diligence today can save lives tomorrow.”
