Another N.S. hospital gets AI weapons screening installed
Another hospital in Nova Scotia is using artificial intelligence (AI) to screen for weapons.
Nova Scotia Health says the new detection system is at the new South Shore Regional Hospital emergency department entrance. The hospital just reopened earlier this month after a major redevelopment.
According to the health authority, now that the emergency department is open, patients should use the new entrance, near the former main entrance.
There will be another screening unit at the main hospital entrance at a later date.
It is one of a dozen hospitals across the province to get the technology from Cape Breton through to Yarmouth. Installations began last year in an effort to beef up security.
Patients are asked to arrive early, avoid bringing items that are not essential to your visit and have your belongings ready to be checked.
