Lakers force game 7 in SIJHL final
The Fort Frances Lakers scored a 5-2 victory over the Thunder Bay North Stars to force a seventh and deciding game for the Bill Salonen Cup.
The road team has come out on top in all six games in this final.
Saturday night the Lakers jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to a pair of second period goals from Nickolas Fagnilli.
The North Stars rallied with two goals in the final frame before the Lakers added an empty netter to lock up the victory.
Lakers netminder Brady Cates turned in another strong performance stopping 33 shots to be named the games first star.
Game seven is Tuesday in Fort Frances at 7:15 p.m.
The winner will advance to the national championships in P.E.I. next month.
